Yapak
Starting depth: 18 meters
Maximum depth: 35 meters
Yapak is Boracay’s most well-known and advanced dive site, best suited for experienced divers due to its strong currents, deep walls, and unpredictable conditions. It offers a challenging yet rewarding experience for those confident in their skills and comfortable in open water.
The dive begins along a vertical wall that drops steeply into deeper water, covered with sea fans, sponges, and soft corals. Divers often encounter schools of trevally, tuna, and barracuda, along with the occasional white-tip reef shark cruising the edge. The visibility here is usually excellent, but the currents can change quickly, making proper buoyancy and control essential.
Because of its depth and demanding conditions, Yapak is only recommended after completing a check-out dive at an easier site, allowing instructors to assess each diver’s readiness. For those who qualify, it remains one of Boracay’s most exciting and memorable dives.
