Maniguin Island

Start depth: ~10 - 32 meters
Maximum depth: ~40+ meters

Maniguin Island, also known locally as Maningning or Hammerhead Island, is a remote dive safari destination about 2-3 hours by speedboat from Boracay. Known for its exceptional visibility (often 30 meters or more), this site offers some of the cleanest, most untouched reef around.

The topography includes sloping reefs that give way to vertical walls, swim-throughs, and deep blue drop-offs. The marine life is abundant and varied: schoolers of barracuda, trevallies, and jacks are common, along with napoleon wrasse, white-tip and grey reef sharks, turtles, and a wide array of soft and hard corals. Certain dive spots on the island—such as “The Ear” and “West Wall”—are known to feature dramatic walls, caves or overhangs, and a strong chance of seeing pelagics.

Because Maniguin is fairly remote, dives here tend to be full-day safari trips. Divers need to be comfortable with longer boat rides, deeper dives, and variable conditions (currents, surge). Advanced certification or strong confidence in buoyancy and dive planning is recommended for the deeper or more exposed sections.
